Hi! I am Reid. Its nice to meet you.
I like to think of myself as a poet, a writer, a traveler and a above all a lover of life.
Let me tell you a little about myself.
I am 47yrs old and I have Asperger’s.
This site was started 2018 after I was let go from the from a volunteer position. I felt that my adventures and advice can help those out there like me with the same situations as me.
Before it became apparent that I had Asperger’s, I was told that I was Dyslexic and had ADHD, for those of you who don’t know what that is. That stands for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. My parents knew I was different from other kids, like I had trouble reading, to the point where I would miss small words, and I had trouble with math.
Later on in life, is when my family realized it was more than just ADHD along with Dyslexia, that’s when they realized I might be on the Autism spectrum and on the higher end. I would be considered (HFA) High Functioning Autism. Meaning my problems are not as severe, and that I can cope to a degree in the real world.
Now I have my little quirks, I try not to do in public like, when I get excited I rub my hands together. My issues are more on the social side. I have trouble not knowing whats right or wrong to say, and I have spatial issues.
But to my parents astonishment I have achieved a lot in the past few years,
Below are a just a few things I have done.
- Gotten my Bachelors Degree (Online)
- Gotten my Post Graduate Certification (Abroad)
- Traveled across Europe for 6 weeks by myself
- Volunteered at different Museums
- Worked 2 Jobs
I will cover each of these things I have done and the obstacles I have come across and how I prevailed.
Now I didn’t know I had Asperger’s till later in life, if I knew I had it when I was younger, it would of Explain so many things.
What can you expect from Reid?
What you wont get are boring reviews or recommendations of places to go, but what you will get is advice on how to take life and run with it from someone who has Asperger’s. You will get stories of my travels with some humor to them as well as learning experiences.
My Final Thoughts
Just looking at the number of visitors I am getting tells me, people are finding my blog helpful. I am so humbled that people can related to me and I hope with time they will share their experiences with me.
